Excitel Broadband Reviews

Yup. Most combo devices do not support working as wireless only mode. Custom firmware might help. Best is to invest in a wireless router.

WGR614v7 - 54 Mbps Wireless Router i already have this router...always used it with a modem for airtel n mtnl for past 8 years.. hope i can use this as standalone wifi....for this connection..

802.11b/g... this is a really old model. it should work. but i am not sure if it would give you full 20mbps on wireless. give it a try. if it suits your usage, keep using it. otherwise invest in a model with at least 802.11n support. 802.11ac would be better but not much of use if you have a large house.

it should have a wan port. insert the excitel ethernet cable in it. configure it using pppoe using your username and password. and that's all you should need to do to configure it.

thanks Sushubh...on the backup end i was thinking before this deal expires and indeed that old model doesnt give me full 20mbps.. howz this Tenda router..just for 599.cheapest wifi router...

on another note..my net is not working..back to mtnl..which has already setup thanks to Netgear d500 and doesnt even need eternet since i have usb wifi for desktop....i already complained to CC just before 8 pm when they close..they have escalated my problem and wud be solved tomorrow morning..one more thing i noticed..they said its active n working from their end..i suspect its either the wire or something in the pole to which its attached..
but today in the 7 hours that i used..i was quite impressed...everything was a breeze..but i cant leave mtnl which works all the time mostly...but speed is just 512 and 2 mbps at night...

a single antenna model might not give you good coverage. i suggest getting a TP-Link model with at least two antennas to be on the safe side. if you do not need a wide coverage, this Tenda model might work out well for you. but do open the package carefully so that you can return it if it does not perform as per your expectations.

and if excitel has just arrived in your area, these initial problems are common. it took my lco around 20 days to get the network stable.

well excitel has been here for a few weeks in my area...the net problem was resolved in the morning by them...but i have noticed that speeds didnt go beyond 7 mbps at the max from morning till now..when i did call their CC they wanted remote access and me to download a software or connect through router and allow them remote access...to check my speeds..has anyone of you given them remote access...is it alright...just askin for curiosity..

@r19 , actually its a great plan since speed after fup of 40 gb is decent 1 mbps and before that is 2 mbps is good enough for me ... ill stick with mtnl...as for excitel just my 2nd day .ill stick for atleast 3 months since . i hav paid for 3 months. .and after that they say u have to pay online..im hoping for jio fiber to come soon..lets see..

to check speeds, connect the ethernet cable directly to pc and login manually using pppoe dialer.

ask your lco if he can bring a laptop at your place to check the speed on it as well. though i doubt they would be handling speed related complaints.

what software did they ask? something like teamviewer?
