@Life_Warrior
Max workable optical input power is -30dBm (-28 for a good measure) for GPON after that it start having errors. (this is download)
Also check optical output power around 2 is good and 7 or 8 is too much and will cause burns in the fibers in long term (this is upload)
If it is 1.8 then that means that the distance from your home to the location of OLT is fairly short and since the output power is low this means it is able to reach OLT quite easily (also judging by upload speeds). This means there is a possibility that there are no further bends on the cable and the OLT owner has jumbled up some configuration in his OLT.
There was one more bend after straightening that download speeds too increased but not up to the mark. Optical Input power is currently -30.3dBM and Output power is 2.1dBM.
@Lolita_Magnum for my airtel fiber connection when the cable is put in white protection box the power falls down to 26.9 and when i open the box and put the cable directly it rises up to 20.9. will there be any issue regarding this in long run?
@Lolita_Magnum
There was sharp turn upwards out of my window and a tight knot around the electric pole.
Very cheap quality wire is used, a thin white wire AIRTEL written on it.
I asked LCO to use black wire then he said they only use it for main sector areas, and in colonies with less connection they uses this cheap wire. Too much cost cutting!
