I don't know about the other players, but I believe that you can do the same thing with Tata Sky now.

Hmm. So you can. Who'd have thought. That's nice to see though.

Although, we were just going to make all channels the same price.

Anyway, *if* you plan on doing launching a DVR, some users might prefer to have a DVR in each room. Also, once media is saved or bought on any one DVR, the one should be able to access it from any of the other STBs / DVRs.

This is from a FIOS or DVR forum.

In other words, you want a media server. I don't know how many run-of-the-mill DVRs can do that - though admittedly I haven't done much research on the same. To me that sounds like Mythbox or Windows Home Server material, but something worth checking with the manufacturers.

I think the cost itself varies a lot, right ????

Just one simple question.
Feedback: The return of a portion of the output of a process or system to the input, especially when used to maintain performance or to control a system or process.
What feedback are we talking here, since hayai is yet to roll out it's services..

NVM just saw This

Sometimes.

If you launch IPTV, will you be providing timeshift functionality as well?(like airtel)

That's usually a feature of the STB itself, I think, not the service, but... yes, I think so. Modern boxes tend to have this kind of functionality.

I meant like Airtel stores the past weeks programs on its servers.. then anyone subscribing to IPTV can view those programs using the EPG. Nothing is stored on the STB

See the 1st point here: airtel ipTV; What is ipTV

airtel iptv makes available seven days worth of programming of the channels available through time shift from their servers. this data is not stored on the STB. it is fetched from their servers. as a result pause and play functionality is only available on these limited channels. i think there are around 45 channels available under timeshift. i find this much better than manual recording. though i do miss out the functionality on some of the channels that are not available under time shift.

I don't think this is actually what timeshift is - timeshift I think is just recording for playback at a more convenient time, isn't it? To me this sounds more like VoD (Video on Demand) and yes, we are planning for that (I think it would have full pause/play/ff/rew functionality)... kind of the same, but different.

I thought you may also have been referring to some live-TV pause/playback/etc phenomenon as well (I've seen STBs do this too).

on DVRs, you have to record the stuff manually. when you pause a live broadcast, the STB starts recording it. but you do not get access to the stuff that is not manually recorded by you. with airtel iptv... they store all the stuff on their servers. it works like a streaming service then. from their servers.
