So I get a Seagate FreeAgent desktop? Any other suggestions?And what would be the street price for a FreeAgent 500, 640 GB and a 1 TB?

i think you will have to go for freeagent extreme for firewire. freeagent desk has only usb.i think the freeagent extreme 500gb is for around 6k.but a hard disk + casing solution would be cheaper by around 1-1.5k

i m looking forward to buy a disk myself.....this thread is very helpful but i need specific details of products.....i.e. how much the external hard disk will cost me....which company should i prefer.....which casing should i buy.....what should i look for when buying like bills/VAT/warranty details etc.Also.....since i am very new to digital world.....plz tell me in plain language how to assemble the hard disk and the casing together and what else should i so?Thank You-The G
