On another if reliance can copy Huawei it will be a poetic justice. But knowing reliance they are only good at creating hype not delivering it.

stealing ip is not really going to work out. india cannot isolate itself like china has done. so it's likely that they licensed the tech from one of the many operators (samsung? Nokia?) and got some local partner to manufacture the hardware in collaboration with the IP provider. it's not like we would ever find out if the actual hardware is being imported from china or their manufacturing partner is a chinese company.

i mean they already have a huge deal for LTE with samsung right? so it's likely that samsung is working with them to manufacture the required hardware locally.

the other unlikely scenario is that they created their own 5g standard and would push it in india like what china did with td-scdma. in the end, reality would come out sooner than later.

China didn't use the regular 3G tech. They developed their own platform. (this is not entirely correct as I think one of the three operator used it. Other two used regular global versions)

So Apple and other global companies had to launch devices with customized radio chips in China.

It was just a stupid example. Jio just can't build their own 5G platform without licensing the tech and buying chips from other companies. Expecting it to be entirely manufactured in India also seems unlikely.

Jio acquired telco grade network and 4g equipment manufacturer company radisys and rancore technology. These two companies are helping it build 5g equipment on open RAN tech with plug play on 4g network. Jio uses radisys switching tech for 4g network in its data centre and Cisco on BTS.

Radisys was pioneer in telco grade network like Juniper networks.
