that's one of the reasons why free basics is being protested against. this gives an undue advantage to established players who have other revenue sources and can do with the limitations of the platform. sure this is not as bad as airtel zero where the websites were going to pay airtel for the bandwidth. that was pretty fucked up compared to freebasics. the problem here is how a us based private company is using the world's largest social platform that they own/control to change public perception and is lobbying for policy change in their favor. as a lot of people have highlighted over multiple platforms, tomorrow this could be misused for other purposes.
