Hi Guys,

I have raised a request with Airtel Broadband team to allocate static IP for me. A technician got assigned and informed that the static IP configuration is completed and i would be getting static IP now. However i observed over the past one week, my IP got changed thrice. Whenever i reach out to customer service they say that from their end they could see that the IP address is static. After many calls to customer service, they have moved this issue to Backend team and they did told me that the static IP isn't configured yet (from the past 10 days) and they configured it now. After this call, i am unable to use the Wifi (connected but unable to provide internet) from the past 2 days. I raised a ticket and a field engineer visited my home and after one day they resolved the ticket without informing me. I have escalated this issue again but no response yet.

My question is that is there a way to confirm from our end if the static IP is configured properly? I mean is there any field in the Modem configuration page (192.168.1.1) that we could use and identify that IP is now static?

My router's a Nokia device. What i believe is that under WAN section, i have two different profiles 1. Internet 2.VOIP. For VOIP, i could see the address method as Static and using IPoE. However under the internet section, i could see that it's using PPPoE and DHCP. I believe that's the issue?

In the router page, check the connection type. If it's showing as PPoE or dynamic then your ip address will change whenever the server wants. Or if you switch on and off your router then also you will see the ip has been changed.

If the connection type is showing as static ip.
Then only you can understand that it's working.

Whatever the backend team and customer care saying ignore it. They are saying rubbish.

You check and believe on yourself only.

If your engineer is not able to give you the proper configaration then see somedays. After that tell the customer care to stop the static ip. Don't pay extra unnecessary..
