Hi,

I have been using Airtel Broadband for long time, currently at 300 MBps plan. I'm using external TP-Link router in Bridge mode. Till last week things were fine and they did some maintenance work and the bridge mode got disconnected. It was with Nokia ONT router and after multiple home visits by technician and multiple discussion with backend team they fixed the internet and unfortunately landline was not working. They finally told they have issue with configuring voice since it was old and router needs to be replaced.

They replaced me with Dasan H660GM-A router and configured in bridge mode. With this I'm getting low Speed and it is fluctuating often, on max avg I get between 240-250 mb in 5ghz band for 300mbps plan. Earlier with anytime in Nokia I used to get 300+ speed.
Another strange issue is if I connect Direct with ethernet, I'm getting 300mbps there. I tried connecting another Tenda AC 10 router as well to Airtel, still getting same speed of around 250Mb. Tried informing Airtel team many times and they are like ethernet 300mbs you are getting so no issue at their end. But connecting any router in wireless I get only 250mb.

Anyone faced similar issues and know how to fix it?

I guess you are affected by one or both of these 2 possibilities:

1) Airtel has recently started hard-capping the speed. So if your plan speed is 300 Mbps, the actual speed will ALWAYS be EQUAL OR LESS THAN 300 Mbps but never greater than 300 Mbps.

2) The WiFi settings in your TP-Link Router somehow got changed (40 MHz vs 80 MHz bandwidth) when you changed the ONT from Nokia to Dasan.

Maybe your WiFi channel was changed causing issues in WiFi speed. I suggest using WiFi analyzer apps to find out the best channel and check if that helps.

Dasan H660GM-A is pretty much crap. It can't handle speeds over 200mbps and over 200 mbps it heats up like crazy. Try getting the router changed and switch back to Nokia or zte.
