just got off the phone with airtel, and the guy seems to be aware of website mistake, he mention that its a typo which should be corrected soon. it is 1mbps till 15 gb, 512kbps beyond 15 gb for the 1299 1mbps iptv plan. also the 4mbps plan is nothing but the unlimited broadband 1799 plan with 50 gb FUP, and iptv as 299 topup on that ;-)

i hv to check my usage before i can think of switching, but the issue is, if i go beyond 50 gb, its switched to 256 kbps! this is taking a big risk!

just checked my unbilled use of dsl, and its 40 gb in 21 days. so, the 50 gb limited is not good for me, maybe a 100 gb limit works fine, but not changing my plan now.

heh. a month has passed by and they have still not updated that freaking stupid PDF file.

also... if they are allowing IPTV users to get the 4mbps package, i bet they are taking a major risk here. i doubt their lines are capable of handling 10mbps data transfers :D

My new 1299 plan has not had FUP applied as of now. I have data transferred close to 100 gb since my current billing cycle started. :)good times. I wonder how long they will last. :p

of course. it is a bullet that is roaming around and can come hit us any moment now. :| my package has not seen any changes. if i get any call, i would simply refuse to accept any change in my existing package. and well i really have no control over what airtel does. i would probably check with the cable guy in this building today on what he has on offer... if he can provide me a 1-2 mbps connection that works with my wireless router, i would probably ask for a test connection for a week (won't mind paying for it).

any local net provider with cable tv in gurgaon? i m still using digitally cable, but not sure if they started broadband yet

i checked today, and found out that i too have constant flickering on my iptv channels, when my download is running at full speed of 1mbps. its normal once i stop my download. i don't think the 4mbps will run normal on same line!

exactly. IPTV sucks if you eat up 1mbps on the broadband line. it is going to be pathetic with 4mbps. i bet it won't even work! :D i am not daring to trying it out and then complaining. i bet they would simply suggest to move to one of the slower speed plans.

from my experience.

Airtel IPTV is not HD. It is not even HD quality. It is average on my 29" CRT.

While downloading heavily using Torrents, my IPTV feed sort of become rather pathetic with random breaks. no one else on this forum has reported the same problem. So, i cannot confirm if this is a problem.

Seven Days. only a limited number of channels. around 45. from what i know no sports channel is included in the list. mostly entertainment channels.

no recording capabilities.

one tv one connection. i have heard rumors about them supporting two TVs on one connection but looking at the crappy quality, i doubt they do offer it. they do not offer it officially at least.

my response? avoid it because you are expecting too much. time shift is pretty cool for me (even though it does not work with F1 races and now the World Cup games). otherwise. it is a pretty major disappointment.

Sorry guys, as I was away for a while from this forum. Back now, and just finished reading this thread on FUP of Airtel. I am, for the time being, sticking with my 2k 1Mbps old plan of IPTV. I will decide later on abt shifting to new plan or moving to other service provider.
To answer your query abt new connection, here is my take on Airtel IPTV:
You should go for Airtel IPTV, if
a) You are a normal net user, not very heavy like lots of download using torrents, P2P (If you don't understand these jargons, you are a normal user)
b) You are going to be in NCR region for atleast a year or so, as this is only available in NCR

The quality is not better, but same as other service providers, and if you are already using one, then prepare to get used to using a slow speed navigation on Airtel IPTV menus. It has TimeShift, which has 40+ channels available for you, with last 7 days all show, and you can rewind, forward these like DVDs. Go take a demo of TimeShift, as this should be the only reason for you to go for it. But, if you already have a broadband connection at home from Airtel, and you are a normal net user, I think you should upgrade it to IPTV even if you already have another STB from other company.

As for me, most of the stuff I do is online, including Google Docs for editing my documents! So, FUP for me is crap! I have not yet faced any issue, but I think if the upgrade happens, I will have to look for alternatives. TV is secondary for me, infact I have got a WD Live, which connects to my router and I watch YouTube on my TV. So, my use of bandwidth is high, and may not be able to use it (did I mention I do P2P as well?) once this FUP is implemented on my connection. I already have my local cable connection active (and pay Rs 200/ pm) with Digitally STB, and it has much better programm guide than my Airtel.

Thanks for the response. Well, I know p2p, seeders and leechers! ;-)

I am a heavy internet user, and its not for facebooking (that's only on mobile office while stuck in jams)

Tata Sky leaves a lot to be desired. Specially in the rainy season with the intermittent outages. Feature wise, I would love to have timeshift TV only because I hate watching TV and the inticing part was to just watch movies/other programs without breaks on occasion.

Also, the clarity aspect. We just picked up a 40 LCD, and I want hygiene quality. TataSky has some really crappy quality (or its just me)

Pudu, how is it going on your 1299 plan? You must have crossed a month by now, have you been FUPed? How much bandwidth have you used?
I still have no clarification from Airtel on whether the FUP is 15gb or 100gb.
Its a shame from AIRTEL having a really good customer service, its come down to being even worse than MTNL/BSNL.

@vidurchhabra My data transfer or last month's billing cycle ws easily 200 GB +. UP was not applied on the 1299 plan as of yet.
