Want to find the fastest DNS server for your particular connection instead of trying a bunch of em like openDNS and Google n ultraDNS etc??...well you're in luck cuz thanks to Namebench - A DNS benchmarking tool by google (part of google 20% projects) you'll get exactly that....A detailed report customised for you to find the fastest DNS and also know how faster it's compare to your current DNS, including a list of servers you can use alternatively. You gotta try this...post feedback here after using.
Use as follows:
1.Go to https://code.google.com/p/namebench/
2.Download your choice of version from the left pane.
3.Install the tool on your PC
4.Open the tool and you'll get this screen:

5.Start the test by clicking 'start benchmark'. Leave the default values.
6.After test finishes you'll be greeted by the following screen telling you which DNS server configutarion is the best/optimal/fastest and recommended for you and by what percentage.

You're set..have fun.
*Test may take up to 20 mins or more so be patient while the tool's in testing.
P.S : My test gave me servers that are 137% faster than my current setup.

Namebench will in most cases show your ISP's servers to be the best option because they're located on the isp's network itself. Hence, I find too find it insignificant.

fastest is not always reliable. for me the fastest are mtnl's dns servers but they tend to resolve slower at times plus thanks to website blocking by mtnl via dns they are useless. 8.8.4.4 is far more consistent.

yup. your own isp's dns are likely to provide the best experience on youtube if they are caching their popular content locally. otherwise, it is going to be a disappointing experience.
