MTNL Mumbai First time: MTNL Throttling torrents to 1 Mbps

From past 2-3 weeks I am getting very slow speeds to USA speed test servers.

If I change speedtest server to Indian server it shows full 1mbps on 1mbps plan

But if I change speedtest server to Chicago USA it hardly shows 200-300kbps.

Downloading from foreign sites are also very slow .. like whatsapp video download kind of crawls.

I am also facing the similar issue of slow speed .For me issue the issue is with every server (Indian and Foreign ).
Am on erricson .

Been facing real slow speeds on torrents and online streaming all day. Speedtests show normal speeds though.

There is definitely some kind of throttling during day time.

Everyday from 12AM to 7AM it gives me 2mbps non stop.

And it works perfect to Chicago server.. i get like 1.8mbps nonstop

But after around 9AM speed to Chicago server goes down to 200-300kbps only (instead of around 1mbps)

MTNL Does not have speed thotteling tools. It must be because of recent reliance submarine cable fault near hongkong.

Hence it must be because of load at bandwidth provider.

Once or twice I managed to do speedtest and it was hovering below 10KB/s

I created VPN between friend PC and mine. Friend uses hathway and speed jumps to 30-40KB/s

This is going on from almost 1-2 weeks now.

God knows if there is any dedicated testing team in MTNL which does routine tests if everything works fine or not.

Apparently they dont have any such team.

Same happening to me I cant check my speed as the site does not open, cant log into any bank site, if I can then at some stage I am thrown out as I am 'timed out'. This is our Digital India in Mumbai. I wonder how it is in rest of the country. Dont know if its throttling or if they have run out of bandwidth because of customers/demand has gone up :devil:

The other school of thought they are actually throttling in a hope customers will get sick of their speed & upgrade to a more expensive plan this could be a possibility as they have begun to behave like some pvt players.

That may not be true. We are already on 8 Mbps which is maximum MTNL can offer as VDSL is pointless and FTTH is just paper launch. As 8 Mbps connections are also seeing throttling during day 9 am to 12 am (midnight), this is a capacity issue.

What is weird is upload is perfect.. consistently give 550kbps speed

But download is slow.. 80-100 kbps currently!!

If there is cable fault then upload shud also slow.

Also i had trouble with frequent disconnections while plays Hearthstone yesterday. I am guessing some kind of line fault. idek.
