^ While your idea is nice, I would really prefer an AV which is free [if not cracked :D] , up-to-date, functional, and more importantly, doesn't eat up my resources like crazy. I am happy with the Kaspersky trial I got for Windows 7, but am planning to upgrade to MSSE. Hopefully, I won't have to complain. :)

any non free av available free anywhere as giveaways?

why not you get a sponsor and hold a contest? :urock:

Adminji any thoughts on this? ;) you can ask gdata guys only to hold some giveaways ! many forums are doing it and I have seen many doing it in tweets. they can also give away for best reviews ! :)

well no one care about this forum or me. :) and we have great free antivirus products available online. so well, there is no need to 'hunt' for a paid one. i don't know why you worry about a security software that much.

MSE is fine. But I suggest you to use what I am using right now :D

Panda Cloud Antivirus, The first free cloud antivirus against viruses, spyware, rootkits and adware[COLOR=\"Silver\"]

Ah, well. Will try it out once my Kaspersky expires, or I install Windows 7 Ultimate, whichever earlier.

I kind of agree. There was time I used to run my machine without ANY AV, and never faced any problem at all. Good browsing practices also matter a lot.

same case here. i have surfed for months. i just installed an antivirus after friends started arriving at my place hooking their computers on my local network to gain access to my files.

I have not got time to check your method. but will try tommorow night as its saturday day after ! I got an idea that its better to use a trial version for a month and change it and get another AV every month! so that you are not bored and you add variery in your life ! ;) no same old biryani every day !
so in a year you change 12 AVs and by year end all those 12 AVs will again release new versions and cycle continues !

You'll waste half of the month installing, configuring and tweaking every AV you install.

Besides your system will become flooded with obsolete registry keys, left over data after you uninstall each AV. Not a recommended option :notallowed:.

it seems you r right... lot of registry problems... right now desktop is behind router and NAT hence should not be a problem....AV companies have now lot of problems to survive so they r desparate . a av detected my official purchased software as a virus and deleted it. I had tough time to restore it. I think only good browsing makes sense !
