Free Caller ID Phone with MTNL Combo Plan ?

I heard that MTNL is giving free caller ID instrument to those who have subscribed to Combo Plan. I called 1500 to confirm it and they said that they are giving free caller ID instrument to combo plan users. Then i asked, will they charge any rent for caller ID facilty and the CC support said that Rs.25/ p.m. will be charged.But, one of my neighbour said that it is absolutely free and they don't even charge Rs.25/month. Can anyone clarify ? I have called 1500 guys 3-4 times and every time they reply that Rs.25/month will be charged and my neighbour says otherwise!

Hey, usually CLIP is free!BSNL provides CLIP instrument to all subscribers. No idea about MTNL!

clip is free on MTNL..i never paid any charge

yup... its free.... till now no charges...as per above scheme, i've book the instrument recently by calling 1500... let see in next month bill...

Why not buy the gadget your self, it costs about Rs 300/- maybe even less & yes there is no rent for CLIP in Mumbai http://mumbai.mtnl.net.in/telecomservices/telephoneconnect01.html#Plan-150 (see all plans). been using it for many years, infact cant even remember when I went in for it.
