By the way i was wondering that u ppl here are announcing server is down....server is down, again and again but u nvr mention where the server is down, in mumbai or in delhi. I'm in delhi and it cud'nt be that mtnl has a common server for both mumbai and Delhi 
So how to know where the server is down

So how to know where the server is down ???I would like to second the thought s raised by @mystery_inc18.Even i am confused abt which server down.Also i try to change the phone no. and password in the *web Access* but all in vain.I cannot login later(Want to tell that i change this only when the accounts page of the delhi site does not open-supposing it is down.Am a resident of Delhi)
I feel that whenever "MTNL server down" is announced on this thread, it is always referred to MTNL Mumbai ( MTNL Mumbai's server is shakey in nature).Dont kno about Delhi server's scheduled downtime. (For Mumbai its generally Saturday 17:00)But some of our enlightened members of Delhi can find out about downtime of server there

i'm a resident of delhi too and till now hv not been able to enjoy the fruits of the 
golden hours. so i can't say whether we can take advantage of the server hang in mumbai, but i am monitoring both the sites ( delhi and mumbai) and as soon as any one of them hangs i'll start experimenting. :blink: . i hope we can use the golden hours in del too

dude... this site is useless as far as notification of "server down" alerts by emails is concerned but to check a site's is down or not manually, its pretty cool.
Well I Don't Know Bout U Delhi PPL... But For Us, Most Of The Times When http://register.mtnl.net.in Is Down... The Authentication Servers Are Down...

Here's another site that also checks for server uptime : http://www.serviceuptime.com
Both have been pretty reliable so far, and I have always got a notification without fail, when the MTNL server goes down, and also when it comes back up.
The only problem is that the free service on both these sites allows you to monitor only a single server. If you need to add more servers, you have to pay them a monthly fee. But you can always use multiple accounts (email ids) to monitor more than one server.
