just check up with your own lawyer friends if email is good enough to be considered official written notice...

Was thinking the same thing.

Put another way, can you prove the emails originated from the person in question ?

The simplest way is to ask and for the other party to respond in the affirmative. It would take less than a minute to settle the question.

But if there is any reason to doubt the other person would admit then i think its insufficient.

discussed thoroughly with vaibhav, i am going to send an elaborate reply tonight. along with the message that the harassment has to stop now or else. yada yada.

excellent. note that (i believe) if you are going to "make it official" (meaning potentially duke it out in court) then you should no longer be discussing this matter in public? another thing to confirm with lawyer buddies :) get those bastards - if not for monetary damages - then at least to let you continue blogging the truth without takedown threats!

Scottish High School in Gurgaon sues parents for defamation

IBNLive : Gurgaon school sues parents for defamation : Print Page

A Gurgaon school has sued the parents of its students for allegedly defaming the school on an online forum.

A Delhi High Court order had restrained parents from posting their comments on the web group.

The management of the school has sued this group of parents for Rs 20 lakhs.

Hmm, hows that going to turn out

In India ??

They are a US org.

thats okay (the school lawsuit)... let them sue the posters as long as they are not suing the online forum itself... let the posters furnish some sort of evidence of their posts... but its harder to say without reading the actual posts :) if the posters/families can countersue the school thats even better...

well it is the same old issue of fee hike by the school without giving good explanations. parents complained that the school was not giving details of the price hike combining several entries into one and increasing the charges. the school in question is one of high end ones from what i have heard. it used to advertise in PVR Cinemas during the interval. the ad was so freaking annoying.

if the posters are simply stating fact that "school has hiked prices without providing reasons" then that is not defamation i believe, they can countersue :)
