Hi Friends,

I am having this weird problem with my broadband connection for the past 1 week.My internet connection resets very frequently. It all started after Delhi experienced heavy rainfall for 3-4 days last week. The problem gets particularly worse from 8pm till 8am.During this time my broadband connection gets reset every two minutes or so.It becomes very irritating for me.

And,as if it was not enough,I am experiencing low bandwidth since yesterday. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test shows my bandwidth to be perfectly fine, but when I test it on MTNL's site, it shows my bandwidth below 1 Mbps as against 1.8 Mbps which it used to show earlier. However, even speedtest.net shows my upload speed as 23 kbps as against 208 kbps it used to show earlier.

I haven't lodged a complaint with MTNL till now. I am kind of hoping that the situation will improve on it's own.

MTNL people might suggest that I need to get my line changed. If there is something wrong with my telephone line, then I am in a spot of bother.

You see, the MTNL lineman in my area thinks he is self employed and simply refuses to carry out requests. The last time I asked him to change my line( as my bb was not working ),he checked my telephone and declared that he would not change the line as my telephone was working fine.He said he had nothing to do with the broadband.

Is anyone of you experiencing or has had experienced a similar problem before? What do you suggest I do?

Here are my modem stats:
SNR Margin
16
12
dB
Line Attenuation
39
26
dB
Data Rate
2013
260
kbps

Complain as quickly and as often as you can and get multiple complaint ack Numbers.
If the line from home to exch has to be changed then MTNL has to do it at their own expense.

If they say its an internal Line issue, then best option is to say, you have had an electrician change the entire house phone wiring, because you suspected that to be the culprit, and he changed the internal wiring and checked it

well, u have to complaint to them..there is no pointing in waiting, i had the same problem with mine in Delhi during the storms 10 days back..my connection used to disconnect so often and also speed very less..i had to complaint them atleast 3 or 4 times, they did something and its working fine now..well, there is some problem in your line.and yes ur SNR Margin is quite low too..Call the customer care 2marrow and ask them to repair it 2marrow itself since saturday and sunday MTNL people dont work...bombard the customer care with compaint calls...make sure u call by 11am 2marrow.best of luck,
