Hi.. I am planning to buy Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE.
The website mentions that for its LTE to work, you need:
1. Samsung smartphone and
2. Airtel (postpaid) /Jio (postpaid/prepaid) connection.

I don't have a Samsung smartphone (using OP 7 PRO) and am currently on Airtel prepaid. Has anyone on this forum had an experience to make this combo work on the watch? Any workarounds or tips would be appreciated.

I read a few articles where people were able to use it with jio on ANY android smartphone. However, I don't want to move to jio and airtel postpaid would be too much based on my current usage.

Suggestions welcome.

Go to your Galaxy Wear app. Then go to Mobile plans. Follow step by step instructions from that page.

i just got the galaxy watch 1 let on the Amazon sale.....handset is a honor view 20 on airtel postpaid for over 10 years....so hesitant to change service provider...my phone is on android 10
Galaxy wear app + galaxy watch plugin + samsung accessory service : are installed on phone and everything is connected except LTE
the mobile network setup from the app is unsuccessful.
the page is erroring out.....
called airtel and they said it will only work with samsung , Apple , motorola and google nexus devices.
this doesnt make sense to me .
also they provided some esim activation instructions but that is to convert the physical sim to an esim.
they also mentioned that on esim activation physical sime will cease to work.......that to me is completely pointless....

if this is not working on airtel postpaid....i would be sure it wont on prepaid.....will post on any updates....

In Airtel, you need a POSTPAID and SAMSUNG phone. It won't work if you dont have any of these.

There's a workaround for this which I have read somewhere on Twitter.. Haven't tried it myself, so won't guarantee if it works or not.
You'll need a Samsung phone temporarily.

  • Take a backup of your watch on your honor phone.
  • Connect it with the Samsung phone
  • Restore the backup of your watch
  • Set up the LTE mobile plan on the Samsung phone
  • Take a backup of watch from the Samsung phone.
  • Connect it back to your honor phone
  • Restore the backup

Your lte plan on watch should work now.
Do remember that the watch formats itself everytime you connect it to a new phone. So backing it up is important.

Let me know if it works.

yeah the Airtel folks are far behind on tech knowhow and have zero knowledge or any workarounds.

I called them as told them i'll port to jio as they support non Samsung phones with the Lte smartwatch.... and they actually obliged with the porting out procedure :)

@sachin - i didn't get hold of the spare Samsung, got fed up, so just got a good deal in the recent sales and ordered a samsung phone.
