You can even get a connection upto 4km but that would be ADSL. For VDSL it has too be less than 550M bcuz of the 40mbps plan. For VDSL lower speed plans (24mbps & 16mps) they can provide upto 1-1.5km.

@raman07 I think you are totally confused. Since i took Airtel FTTH connection in september, let me clear your doubts...

1. 100 mbps is only available on FTTH(Fibre) line. V-Fibre is just VDSL with 40 mbps max... So you need to look around in your area if copper cabling is done or Fibre. Usually Fibre is laid with lot of noise and people usually do peep to understand that work is happening in their lane or gully.... I am assuming since you do not see any DP around your house then you forget 100mbps connection from Airtel. Now since you do not see anything then i am afraid you may not even get airtel connection at all. Because for VDSL or ADSL they do not give connection beyond 20 mtr wiring from DB box...

2. Airtel FTTH OSS layer is bad and is provided by Huwaie. Customers including me are facing issues with bill plan change, VAS activation on landline and what not... ONU are also branded by Huwaie... Order is registered in system but does not get processed.. I am not able to activate ISD service on my landline from the time of installation. But call quality is VOIP like, there is no disturbance and fibre speeds are exact 100mbps with no single down time till date...

Well then i should leave all hope of getting airtel bb. :(

Can you post your speedtest result of any Singapore server? I would probably consider getting point to point wireless bridge connection with airtel FTTH connection by some third person.

Why don't you call airtel cust. care and inquire what happened to the order you placed. They are the only ones who will be able to give you a proper response if the connection is being installed or not.

Will call tomorrow. It is Sunday today.
I see you have airtel 100mbps connection. Have you ever posted speedtest result of your fiber connection over here? I would like to see a comparison of ping between ftth and v fiber. include 1 sg server if you going to post some result.

Cust care is 24x7, it doesn't matter if today is Sunday, they will still be available to take your call and update you on the status of your order.

The Singapore downstream would have been better but I was streaming YouTube in the background. :P

Well, FTTH is supposed to be same upload as download. However, When I started with Airtel, I got 16Mbps with 10Mb upload, then went to 40Mbps with 20Mb upload, it is only now with 100Mbps that I get the same upload. I did even complain, but all airtel would say is "We don't give any guarantees on upload speeds". I later on found out the cause of the lower upload speeds wasn't airtel but radius infra, they are the company that manage the FTTH network for our society, they were not provisioning the ONTs with the correct upload speeds. Even now, they refuse to upgrade my ONT which has 100Mb LAN ports to one with 1GigE ports, otherwise the speed test would be infact over 100Mbps not the 90 or so Mbps I am getting right now. They say, if and when you get a plan over 100Mbps we will swap it out accordingly.

This is the kind of speed user @GeekBench gets for his FTTH in Noida with a Gigabit ONT.

So in short, all airtel FTTH connections are synchronous from airtel's end, atleast here in NCR.

Anyways, that's my ranting over! LOL

100mbps has been available on VDSL over 2 months now. It started from Chennai / Hyderabad but is available majorly (North) since last 2 weeks provided the loop length from the area Exchange is less than 250m. All those who have max attainable speeds of 110+mbps can anytime upgrade to it for as low as 1099+taxes
