Getting Double NAT issue on Xbox Series X. Need help

Hello everyone, I have been using Airtel Extreme fibre for almost 2 years now and it was working uptill now.. Yesterday when i logged into my Xbox to play a multiplayer game, it was giving me nat error. I did a connection test and it showed Strict Nat with Double nat detected. Iam using single Huwaie router/modem HG8145V provided by Airtel with connection. For 2 years, i never had strict nat or double nat on xbox but now its showing double nat all of sudden?.

I read Normally double nat occurs when there are 2 routers connected, but in my case i have only 1 router from isp and still causing it? I tried multiple manual ports in xbox settings and nothing is fixing double nat. Airtel engineers are mostly clueless about NAT issues, One engineer asked me to buy static ip for 236 Rs/month which could fix the problem?. I want to ask broadband forum members, is there any fix for this annoying issue without paying extra for static ip.?


Its shocking that most so called Airtel engineers dont even know what NAT is :/
 
@SilverShroud Double nat will not be a issue. Most of the services are hosted on servers these days, so nat will not matter here. I guess you are getting double nat now is because airtel may have shifted to cg-nat. Their nat and your ont's nat is causing 2 nat situation. Once login into the ont and check what wan ip you are getting.

CGNAT was activated by Airtel here 6 months ago but double NAT issue started, yesterday only.

And what should i check by logging into ONT and checking WAN IP? I have to compare Wan IP with something? Ia not that expert in this area, please can you explain what i need to do?
 
May be Airtel is also soon reaching a point of getting their Ipv4 exhausted. Spectranet did it a few years ago. earlier they were offering public ip but switched to cgnat.

It's normal. no matter what, most ISP engineers only know how to fix no internet like broken cable, loose connections or basic setup. They have no networking knowledge beyond that.
 
Most gaming services also support Ipv6. IPv6 is publicly routable for all Indian ISPs so far. Can you checkif you are getting IPv6?
 
I am just speculating. This is where India is soon headed (already rather) as most ISP's have exhausted IPv4 quota. Big players like Airtel wherever possible are still offering public IP. I suggest you first write to net at airtel.com and ask for a direct interaction with senior backend tech expert. That's what I do. I never talk to cc or field engineers. They do not understand what you are talking about. If backend expert confirm they have indeed put you behind cgnat then as suggested by others go for static public ip for additional cost per month.
As far as airtels ipv6 is concerned at least at my end it's still a hit & miss.
With spectranet earlier I was in a transition state where sometimes if avilable I would get public ip and sometimes private but then one day onwards they confirmed that they no longer can provide public ip. In fact in the initial terms & conditions it was clearly mentioned that public ip may be assigned based on availability only.
