We are contacting you because we received information that a malicious third party is claiming to have accessed user data at over 30 companies including Gfycat. While we have not been able to confirm these claims, we take them seriously and are working rapidly to investigate and resolve any issues. We are sorry for any concern or inconvenience this may cause.

What Happened and What Are We Doing?
On February 16, 2019, we were alerted that some user data was reportedly compromised by a third party, who allegedly gained unauthorized access to our systems. While we are investigating the validity of this claim, we have already taken several steps to protect our users and to make enhancements to our systems. We will continue to monitor for suspicious activity and take any further action as needed.

What Information Was Involved?
The affected information may include your email address and encrypted Gfycat password. As a reminder, we do not collect or store financial information.
What You Can Do
While we store all passwords in a secure one-way hashed state, it is generally a best practice not to reuse the same password across multiple services. If your Gfycat password is used across multiple services, we recommend that you change to a unique password now.

Reset Password
We also recommend that you use caution when responding to unsolicited communications that ask you for personal data or refer you to a web page asking for personal data. We further recommend avoiding clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact us at [email protected].
