Hello everyone, Day 1 Review:

So finally I recharged my account with gigabit plan and while doing so requested my LCO to cooperate if things don't go right. He definitely told me you won't get above 400Mbps on wifi but on wired you'll get gigabit. Paid Rs 4715 for 4Months 1Gbps.

My setup is :
ModelSY-GPON-1000R-DONT
Serial Number-
Hardware VersionV2.8S
Software VersionV6.0.8P1T8 211123101101
Boot Loader VersionV6.0.8P1T8
Power is around -23.7dBm

Bridged to Archer C6 v3.2 PPoE ----> Wired to UE300 Type-C--> Laptop type c port

The pings are same as of 50Mbps plans, no benefit of even a millisecond there.
Speeds are very disappointing, Download hovers between 200Mbps-475Mbps. Never once i saw 500Mbps+ Tried several browser, speedtests, CLI and iperf3.
Upload speeds are always 750Mbps+ and max 920Mbps

Don't want to spam here with all day speedtests results but here's the latest one. It's 12:28 AM IST , I thought after IPL maybe i'll see some improvements but no

Infact i've used my router at WiFi speeds DL 475Mbps Upload 500Mbps so getting 200Mbps that too wired feels bad.
I've already tried tweaking some settings for interface adapter like jumbo packets, offload parameters, MTU etc.
Informed the LCO he said he'll look into it, but i'm not getting my hopes high since last year they tried their best but couldn't help with my 300Mbps connection.
The guy from NOC was on call for an hour and installed anydesk, saw things for himself but no resolution.

But yes this is actually an issue with OneBroadband for plans with higher bandwidth the DL speeds are never as promised but for plans with lower speeds (I was on 50Mbps and got 65Mbps exact all times)

Refer this : Slow Speeds on XC220-G3v

Even other users face bad download speeds during peak hours, upload speeds are always perfect.

Update : LCO is trying to arrange Nokia onu.

Yesterday there was a fiber cut, it got fixed within few hours but since then i've notice even greater speed variations even though power is -23.5dBm making me wonder if all this chaos is due to shared core because I can transmit 900mbps+ but never receive much so maybe if they're using multiplexer that can potentially cause this issue

So the technician installed G-240G-E today, had to splice UPC to APC. Power is at -23.5dBm

But still no luck with download speed issue, it's still 200mbps-450mbps. LCO now suggested me to raise ticket so that NOC can try to fix the issue since i guess he has done everything in his capacity.

I doubt, it's a capacity issue locally and is due to insufficient transit on 1B.
Peak hours: 7-10PM sucks, tho.
Not a BNG issue, because I can get full speeds with WARP at all times.

You can try with a different router if you have any, or plug directly to your computer.
I have 500Mbps and at least in speedtest (locally), I get about that.

Even i feel this is capacity issue since during peak hours speeds always take a hit

But then even at 3AM or 5AM it never surpassed 500mbps+

I tried using cloudflare warp i don't have subscription but i used zero trust to get warp+

This is just too low for gigabit :(

Even ISPs like Airtel, Jio and Tata fails to deliver proper 1gbps(940mbps) during peak hours. This is still OneB. The main issue from what I can guess is bandwidth over-subscription. Since they are selling high speed plans for lower price, they are overselling the bandwidth.
My friend lives in Bangalore and uses Excitel, he is on 400Mbps plan and he rarely get 400Mbps during the day. But gets relatively better speeds after 11pm.

I am just guessing after reading multiple reviews of ISPs selling high speed plans at lower costs.

@RKhan21 exactly you are correct. it only depends how much a ISP has invested in the particular area , if you are facing issues in peak hours blame airtel or your LCO for cost-cutting. this is f year 2024.

and it is a well known fact that many isps have ignored north india for a pretty long time.

Yeah. Here in Chennai they have good capacity so even though every box is full I get full Gigabit at anytime of the day. In fact 940+940 if I do 2 different WAN profiles and download at same time in 2 devices.

The whole business of isp is based on accommodating as many customers in their bandwidth, so i guess every provider upsells.

They're providing it cheap but it's been only few weeks since their new plans launched so i don't think a lot of customers are already hopping onto 300mbps or gigabit plans.

My LCO told me there's only one more customer on gigabit plan, he is on Syrotech onu and getting proper speeds (as per lco)

But even in upselling situation atleast at 4AM about 600-700mbps should be provided i guess
