Recently some sales person came to my apartment and was offering gillette blades for 85Rs instead of mkt price of 125.
Which blades were these ? Mach 3.
I saw a pack here of 4 @Spencers for Rs.350 and the turbo's going for Rs.425 and there was a 2 pack of Mach 3 for Rs.195.
Where does the Rs.125 /blade price come from ?
I was wondering if they wud be good blades? or low quality scrapped blades by gillette? or even duplicate or may be used?
I would defnitely be wary of offers like until you are able to distinguish fake from the real thing.

Problem is this still isn't enough, the only way you will know is after you use one
I doubt they would be scrapped blades as Gilette would take great pains to ensure they never got into the market ie they would be destroyed immediately. Their QC is very high so chances of getting a bad blade in a pack are very low. Inspite of being manufactured at the Bhiwadi plant in Rajasthan.
If you do find a bad blade it will most likely be from a fake pack that was made elsewhere and smuggled into the country.

Cheapskate: In Search of a Low-Priced Shave - WSJ.com
"A razor is not a sports car. It won't make us feel young again or turn women's heads. We don't like shaving, and no matter what you do, we never will."
oooh, i beg to differ with the above big time
The sports car Razor IMO is the simple double edge razor that 98% of this country uses which has many choices for blade used. If you can source from abroad there are also many choices of DE razor including adjustables that can be had. You can choose how aggressive or mild you want your shave to be by adjusting the angle. In short you will get the best shaves possible for low cost if you take the time to learn how to do it.
Compared to the cruiser automatic for mass consumption that is Gilette's modern shaving system ie all multi-blade incarnations, with just one selection of blade along with one choice of shaving gel all at very high cost/shave, avg quality shave and not very fun to do at all.
All we want is a razor that will do the job without nicking us, either literally or figuratively.
An automatic is so much easier to drive than a stick shift isn't it, Neal Templin, but so boring and extravagant with fuel.
"Over the years, I've compensated for the rising prices of razor blades by using fewer of them. Whereas I once might have changed blades every week or so, I now go two or three weeks before popping in a new one."
When you would normally do it once a week with a DE blade and get a much more consistant and better quality shave, but instead you start to skimp on blades because they're so expensive whilst ignoring the fact that your shaving with a duller blade and increasing your chances of nicks, skin irritation, ingrown hairs AND getting a steadily crappier shave without even realising it. Hey, its a lot easier to toss blades when they come for Rs.2-8 each compared to Rs.100+ isn't it.
Neal Templin has yet to discover the world of DE shaving
