It is natural. Expanding market is the main reason and the conditions are now favourable. Fiat cars sold a million in 30 years, but Maruti and Hyundai reached the million mark in a relatively short time. Dish tv took almost three years to reach a million but the next million was added much faster. Dish and Tata Sky were able to achieve 1 million a year with high entry cost. I wonder what would have happened to sun if the entry cost had been rs. 4000 plus like dish and ts a couple of years ago.

For mobiles the tariff was almost rs. 30 per minute for outgoing and 15 per minute for incoming during launch. But now all mobile companies are increasing their subscriber base exponentially.

Dish had to be a low key player when it entered as the market was 'illiterate'. Sun is in a better position because all factors are favourable: mature cost conscious market, more channels, better sports transmission, low cost tv sets. Sun also shares the same satellite as dd direct and hence load on its transponders is less. Not so with tatasky. It has to use its precious resource to air dd channels.

You are absoultey right Mr.Tech_Enthu, when dish tv was started the cost was very high i think the cost of dish tv was above 5000 at that point of time and during that phase people were not aware much about DTH. Since the entry of TS, both dish tv and TS educated the people of india about DTH and because of that entrant are also finding it easy to acquire the customer.

I feel in educating the customer 1st award should go to Dish TV and DD DTH and 2nd TS...............People of india including me came to know about DTH because of DD DTH, Dish TV(mainly) and TS.......

I know abt DTH in around 1997:yahoo:, at that time Indian government allowed DTH in India. At that time all news paper said, DTH cost around 10k to 15k, and it will be great flop in India.

I started to know more on DTH because of the visibility of Dish TV mainly because of ESS channels. I started to know more about them from 2002 or 2003 it was during the period where in the govt was discussing about the CAS:wall:. I think at that period of time Dish TV costing around Rs. 7000 odd if i am correct............

You have got good knowledge more than me:thumbsup: and i think you are 1 year elder to me too...............

Yes for DTH i am 1 year elder than you. This is becuase, i was waiting for SUN DTH. But SUN DTH come with only FTA channels, no Star channels. So i go for Tata Sky. Thats why some delay in entring in DTH. :ashamed:

Since you are in chennai you could have gone for CAS system too.........

The main reason for going to DTH was to avoid my Cable TV operator. :wall:
They are the worst men in this world, then how come in go for CAS.

I understand that what i felt is that you could had more tamil channels in your cable and pay little less for your favourite pay channels under CAS ..........

Cost is secondary, primary is satisfaction. I never get satisfaction in my cable.
And also, for no. of channel, i dont have much time to watch 11 Tamil channel, then what is the use of all tamil channel.
