well yeah it is fairly obvious. but then google probably realizes that most people would care about the first few results on the page. sucks for the sites that are not in the top 5 now.

i wud be hating this new SPACIOUS design! i hope they provide the option to disable spaces! i am a keyboard user (hate using mouse much and hate scrolling a lot!)i have 100 results per page setting which allows me to go thru lots of results and read them later. this new design will reduce my reading speed by 1/3th and almost double my finger work!

strange. i remember it appearing as a third party implementation through an extension when chrome started supporting voice input through HTML5. i could not locate any relevant extension in my browser. would have to search for that post now. to see what i added.
