the sbi branch near my locality. i am not a fan. the expectations are already so low that anytime i go there, i come back impressed. wow, ek hi baari main kaam ho gaya!

i think an unofficial gag order has been passed to prevent psu banks from opening new acc's without aadhar card

all the banks near me (sbh,sbi,canera bank etc) refused to open accounts without aadhar cards.

same reason i wanted to open hdfc acc. they are really good till now. but dad ofcourse wants to open in sarkaari banks

Sadly most private banks would require you to already have an existing account.

@chromaniac nope I went to ICICI, relationship manager asked me to deposit 10k to open account, no existing account, no introducer

thats the thing ..10k minimum balance in savings bank account

banking is same like everything else in this country, pay more to get more.

and these bank wallahs recently got a 15% pay hike

yes public banks employees had one pay commission recommendation pending, by the way that was condition for ICICI
