Hello,
It is my pleasure to introduce Granular Linux ver1.0 . This is a preview releae and code named as 'Esto Vox'.Granular is an easy to use Linux operating system which is suitable for the newbies in the world of Linux as well as the regular users. Featuring more customizability and user-friendliness, Granular is ready to use for all the daily chores like creating documents, collecting images, surfing the Internet, making presentations & preadsheets, playing games, communicating with mates, and much more.

Granular also contains a lot of customizable themes, splashes, wallpapers, and other stuff that helps to customize Granular according to your needs. Another notable feature is the presence of two desktop environments -- KDE and Enlightenment (E17).
Just downloaded it and the post is from Granular Esto Vox-1.0 preview edition. Mplayer does the great job of playing video and Amarok is greastest media player and it does all the Mp3 files in great style. I was surprised as it never asked 'codec missing'one of my friend just asked me recommend a distro which has all the codecs included, as he has no internet connection.. at first I was tempted to recommend Mint but when he saw the kde hee want a kde based player,, just copied a cd image and give to him with instruction to install..

Nice, an Indian distro, eh? I hope there is no hidden agenda behind the project... Hope it does well... but I'll stick to Ubuntu/openSUSE myself :)

According to the wiki, it is based on PCLinuxOS and is supposed to improve on it: Granular Linux - Granular Linux Documentation

Yes it is PCLOS based.. I use PCLOS for two years but now satisfied with Granular.. though i think Dream Linux and Mint is more polished in artworks, and functionality, but for a new bie he should introduced to Mandriva based distro..Also their forum is more friendly to the users questions..once I asked animation package 'ktoon' immediately they make a RPM file and provided in thier repository..though their early version has some issues with network, this time they solve it.. like PCLOS if you answered few question about the network in the booting stage of live cd itself... once the installation finished you can directly connected (always on)internet immediately.. one of the down side is , they didn't include OOo instead koffice is included,.. other than this is must for newbie's who are always struglling about codecs, and other issues..with regards, vaithy
