Hi Folks,
I paid/subscribed for Supreme Sports Kids & HD Annual packs back in Feb'2012 hence should ideally get all the HD Channels till Feb'2013 as a part of the initial plan but after
Tata Sky's 8th October 2012's change in policy - the introduction of 'HD Access Fee' has changed this. 'Start Movies HD' & 'Star World'(the two channels we watch the most) have been blocked since yesterday. Tatasky people are asking me to subscribe to these 2 channels separately(A-la-carta) by paying Rs. 30 + Rs. 20 respectively to continue getting what i have already paid for "or" the alternative is to subscribe to another pack which already has these channels in SD !
PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong:
1. I Believe that such changes should only affect new customer's or existing customer's who are on monthly plan - NOT USERS ON ANNUAL PACKS
2. Was the idea of Annual Packs not supposed to be solely for Price Protection - *Especially when i paid "Price of the HD Pack" back in Feb'2012 (multiplied) by 12 months - without any discounts !
3. Any such change in policy for 'even' existing customer's should also be a few months(3 months or at least 1 month) in advance - not just a few days as a surprise
Today I am getting all the 11 HD channels as I should have (being the Annual HD Gold subscriber till Feb'13). I guess TataSky was stormed by annoyed subscribers like us.
So no more grudges against TataSky, for now.
They should also take back the stupid SD channel = HD channel viewing method.
Same here, mine was fixed too almost immediately after i called them to give a piece of my mind, being persistent is what paid off. I made it very clear that we shall go to any extent possible if this wasn't changed immediately.
Happy for now but like most others have decided to either ways move out of Tatasky when my annual subscription expires in Feb'2013 - my problem has always been the massive investment i already made in TS - One HD PVR + One Tataskyplus SD PVR + 3 other normal SD Set top boxes(2 SD box in use). Moving to another provider will obviously be very expensive
well they did it didnt they, by introducing alacarte. only that the rates were idiotic. the regulator didnt really press them on pricing. so the whole affair ended up being a dud.
what i dont understand is now with this new hd access fee, TS has gone back and removed the alacarte facility from the HD channels. So say i want to see star movies in HD on alacarte. I pay (Star Movies SD alacarte - 30 rupees) + (HD access fee - 100) = 130 bucks. Insane (Illegal?).
Yes, true when you really want only one or two of those HD channels but otherwise is actually good for someone who already has all the HD Channels in his base SD pack. Where Tatasky really screwed up was by trying to force customers with annual packs to adopt this new policy with immediate effect, even before our annual terms expired !
