Hello, as the title suggests, I have been having a weird issue for the past few days. Suddenly Dota 2 stopped working, the screen says Unable to Ping any Location and a Red Ping failed option shows up. Imgr link
It's working fine on Mobile Data and works on Jio Fiber in my office too. The weird thing is AFAIK only Dota 2 is not working, rest of the games work fine. Steam download works too. Steam itself is not blocked.
I tried resetting the router, but it didn't help. I have asked the LCO for a replacement, but since nothing else is broken idk if they will replace it or not.

How does this happen? Does anyone know any fixes for this, please? How can only one program be blocked from accessing the internet?

Hello @shadowx

That's one of the common issue in Dota 2. You can select 'India, Dubai, SE Asia' servers to play Ranked/UnRanked/Single Draft matches. Dota 2 got this issue since a long time and they don't even bother to fix it. You'll able to get matchmaking easily on the above mentioned servers.

Usually, India server doesn't get any matchmaking due to lack of playerbase & rank-based players whereas Dubai & SE Asia will give you matches under 5 - 10 minutes or 20 - 30 minutes depend on your Rank/Match Making Ratings (MMR).

If you are not able to connect to any servers or didn't get matchmaking, In that case, Try to use 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 DNS in your Wi-FI/Ethernet DNS Server. This will fix that issue too.

If the above mentioned doesn't help or fix your issue?

Checkout this website : https://www.valvesoftware.com/en/contact?recipient=Dota+2+Team
This will help you to get proper Technical support by Valve or Steam Technician.

It's not from valve's end, its a router issue. Check the pic I linked, I'm unable to ping any server from my home internet, while it's working fine on office Jio fiber connection.
My doubt is why only Dota is being affected while everything else works fine, and can I fix i somehow?

@shadowx Are you able to do matchmaking? Even if you are not getting ping for server, You'll be able to get matchmaking easily. For me, It happens randomly but doesn't affect matchmaking system.

If you are not able to do matchmaking, It can be case where your ISP is not able to establish connection properly. For that, Contact Valve/Steam support as they can provide you proper solution for it that how to contact your ISP and what to be told to them and other formalities.

I don't think you read my post fully, valve has nothing to do with this. The issue is solely on my side. My home router is acting weird, only blocking Dota 2 which is weird. It's Woking fine on Mobile data, and Office internet, same PC.

Why will valve do anything about it? I cannot watch games, I cannot start games. I'm unable to connect to ANY server.

@shadowx I think you are not able to understand what i want to say.

If Dota 2 is getting blocked by your Home Router, It means that there is some connection issue between Valve server and your ISP. For that, You can contact Valve/Steam support to know in more detail what can be the issue for that and how to get it fixed at your Router/ISP Level. They will give you proper answer for how to configure your router to get it fixed or how to tell JIO Fiber customer care what need to be fixed.

I'm not saying that it is 'Valve' issue but many of cases like this get asked to Valve and they provide better solution than anyone can provide.

They'll able to provide some diagnose tests on your ISP Level so that they can confirm your issue and provide you solution how to fix it. Like, If your router needs some configuration or some issues with PC connection etc. So, It's better to contact Valve as they can provide better technical support.
