yeah it is going to be toasted unevenly. since it would end up in slanted position. one half of both sides would be less cooked than the other half. but seems like a cool option if you do not want to spend on a grill separately. and if you mostly make sandwiches over butter toasts, seems like a great device. i wonder what happens to melted cheese at the bottom. you probably can't use shredded cheese on this. but cheese slice should be fine.
the good thing is that since you can just take out stuff while the heat is still on. you get a lot of flexibility. you can check how well it is cooked and rotate things around. plus the warming thingy at the top is quite handy though wasteful if you are going to use it without cooking inside the device.
So reviews on Amazon are pointing to it being a non pop up toaster..also the heat is insufficient and invariably the bread falls in and needs to be taken out by inverting it
