help unable to configure router settings

hi,
i recently got a BSNL broadband connection. i wanted to have the connection as always on. when i try to get to router settings using http://192.168.1.1 the web based connection manager doesn not open. is ther ne pre-settings i have to do to open the manager. should i be connected to net to acess the manager. help me plz .ty

goto control panel>>>network connection>>>LAN properties>>>TCP/IP properties....IP Address = 192.168.1.10subnet = 255.255.255.0Gateway = 192.168.1.1then try to open the page.also which modem/router do you have?

In IE after entering 192.168.1.1 usually Id admin password admin
see this web site and select your modem
SmartAX MT-882 ADSL MODEM MENU select from main menu.
