Hi all, I got Airtel Xstream Fiber installed recently and I have noticed that when using it to connect to my client's cloud pc which is hosted in the US, I'm facing high ping issues. Sometimes the ping goes above 300+ ms and usually it is around 270+ ms. Does anyone here has any solution for this problem? Or switching to Jio Fiber is the only solution here.

Previously, I had FusionNet broadband and there my ping was in the range of 240 to 270ms. I switched to Airtel Xstream Fiber and got the 200mbps plan hoping that the pings to my client's cloud pc would improve. Since I'm working from home, so having a good internet connection with low pings is a critical requirement for me. If anyone can suggest me some solution here than it would be great.

@Lolita_Magnum By client, I mean the company I am working for remotely. The company is based in the US and operates in the finance sector, which requires all their Cloud PCs/Remote Desktop Environments to be hosted in the US due to government regulations. Because of these compliance requirements, having a localized server in India is not an option.

So, bandwidth/internet speeds do not really play a factor in this and RDPs usually consume about 1-2Mbps approx.
Broadband is “best effort” from ISPs, especially when it comes to latencies.
Hence, your options are either:
  • Switch ISPs until you get a good balance.
  • Get the Cloud PC moved to a different Azure in US, either east, west or central. Based on how peering is done between the ISPs, sometimes this can improve latency.
While, there are definitely better alternatives, but from a normal consumer's perspective there is not much one can do.

IMO tata play is best for routing and peering stuff, check if thats available in your area otherwise try for GTPL

airtel has very bad routing with cloudflare sites

@SpeedxThunder Tata Play Fiber is not available in my city. I can try GTPL as they are available in my area, but GTPL is known for frequent disconnection and their customer service is very very bad. I was their customer 3 years back, but might be that their latency/ping is good so I can use GTPL as a 2nd broadband connection.

@ghostiin, I did not tried GTPL as after 10 to 15 days Airtel's internet quality improved for me, now I'm getting 230 to 250ms ping when connecting to my cloud pc hosted in US. I did not got GTPL installed as my past experience with them was not good, plus at my current place GTPL is even worst than before, sometimes the internet is down for days and their customer service is very poor.
