Please post how much data transfer you did in a month.

Data Transfer: 86795.46 MB i.e. 84.76 GB:yahoo:
Duration (HH:MM:SS): 595:09:26:dance:
Plan: Home 512 UL.
Month: Oct 08.

My data transfers are about 150gb every month on the usage portal... 100gb of that is for downloads...But in reality I download max up to 50gb per month (per my own estimates)... most months its around 20-30gb. Their usage calculation is a big scam!

Care to point how BSNL is doing a "scam" in usage calculation?

Easy. It's their incompetence! Or at least some third-rate usage monitoring software made by the Chinese Huawei :D

Oh you don't get to run away like that Paris, and there's no Hector to protect you here.

Show me how you came to the conclusion that BSNL is doing a "scam" in calculating usage. Go ahead.

:madness: Who are you? Mary Poppins hired to help with BSNL's image or something?I specifically created a folder called something like "DownloadMonthXYZ" (Dec IIRC) and placed all my downloads in there from the 1st to the last day of the month. Most downloads were torrents, the rest, HTTP/FTP.Other incoming data like web browsing and internet radio (at 24 K bits per second) is a small fraction. Rarely did media heavy browsing like YouTube. Then I was on the 256k UL plan (this was before Home 1350UL was launched). This was around a year ago when many Linux distros had released their latest editions and I downloaded a bunch of their CD/DVD ISOs , tons of free mp3s from places like djriver.com, trance4ever.com, cardamar.com, stuff like that. Managed to do this pretty much 24x7 thanks to rare power cuts those days. Now, at the end of the month, that folder was approaching 50GB while online usage showed 100GB downloaded and 50GB upped. If you want to check for yourself, it should be easy...Just disconnect at a certain time and note down the time you reconnect. Then download at full speed for some duration (say 1 hr). Then disconnect. Make a note of when you disconnected and the amount you downloaded. Then wait for the record to show up on BSNL's usage site... You'll see for yourself.

Why so angry? I just happen to have a good nose for liars. Why does the call to substantiate your claims make you so flustered?

Given how you "calculate usage" I can see why you are under delusion that BSNL is running a scam and metering incorrectly. I have run the test when I originally got my Dataone connection, and a couple times since then. Not once have my own figures mismatched with BSNL's. But then again I know how to measure throughput and usage.

I suppose accusing BSNL of scam is easier than:

[*]Admitting one's ignorance,

[*]Taking steps to dispell the ignorance.
[/list]
It is important to call out lies here, since other people will read these threads in future and might get misinformed.
