HINISO 22L Smart Compressor Dehumidifier for Home
So, I finally decided to splurge on a mid-range dehumidifier. I originally planned to get their cheapest model but decided to get the third model because well the price difference was not significant. Fourth model was not available on Amazon, so I ignored it. I also ignored the Sharp model which is priced in the same range because of reviews saying that the device often arrived damaged with leakage and stuff. Hiniso packaging is quite solid as they wrap the product with wooden bars, and it did arrive pretty nicely packed. Took me a lot of time to get it out of the wooden planks lol. I originally wanted to buy this offline but both Croma and Vijay Sales locally did not stock any product in this category. Said that no one asks for them. I personally think this is going to become the next big segment like Air Purifiers did around a decade ago. Anyways.
About the product, it does appear to work as expected. There is some rattling sound which I guess is understandable because it has a compressor? Build quality is quite alright. Has physical buttons for all the features. Also has app support through a Tuya powered platform which is quite basic but provide access to all functionalities. The day I got it, humidity was over 75% which meant I got a chance to run it in perfect conditions. It managed to get it down to around 50% in a few hours. There is no instant magic here. Also, when you turn it off, humidity does rises pretty fast based on surrounding conditions.
What I do not like is the power consumption. It is rated at 350w, and I think that’s constant usage if the compressor is running. It might just be better to run an inverter AC in dry mode in summers than this product I imagine. But I guess, that is not the fault of the company or the product itself. I really haven’t researched the market much, so I am not sure if this is common to all dehumidifiers or other technologies exist that are cheaper to user. App support does not track power usage so it’s not easy keeping an eye on how much power it consumed in a week or a month.
The model I got has both UV and Ioniser features. Both are optional accessible through individual buttons. I generally tend to avoid using ionisers, so this was nice. I do turn them on for a while when I am not in the room. But tend to keep them disabled if I am in the room. Timer support is there with hourly increase till 24 hours.
Noise levels are generally high. And fun fact, it is easier to be around at full fan speed because it negates the noise from the compressor. At low fan speeds, the sound from the compressor can get a bit annoying. Higher fan speed make it sound like an air purifier which is easier to handle while sleeping.
Company is accessible over WhatsApp. Dude was very responsive and gave answers to all the queries. Even sent me a hepa filter for the device complementary. Yeah, you can use a hepa filter on air intake to sort of make it work as an air purifier as well. Filter is quite small in size and thin so it would not last for long, but it is a good option to have. I plan to buy a few pieces and run use them through summer instead of running the air purifier.
I think I covered most points I could think of. Would be happy to answer any questions.
I do need to buy one more unit for another room before the shitty season arrives. I would probably get another Hiniso. Probably the second capacity model.
