I purchased ADSL Router(4 ports and 1 usb) when I first got my DataOne connection. After problem with BSNL from April 2007, my Router is sleeping. I want to give life to it. Is it possible to use that router(or modem?) to connect my old system with my new system having YOU connection, to share Internet and files?

What actually I mean is first connecting ADSL to my old system and cabling with new system using the port in the ADSL ( and another to old). I am using YOU only in my new system. Is there any splitter like facility to split my Ethernet connection in the new system to share it with old system?

Please be specific instead of saying old system new system etc.
YOU BB need a cable modem to connect to your computer.
DATAONE modem is ADSl or ADSL2 based Internet data transfer and cannot be used in "YOU"
Whether you have a desktop and laptop ,or two desktops, or more than two desktops mention clearly.
I have given detailed reply in this forum ( as well as others ). How to connect two or more computers to the internet and to share files/photos/printers etc.

How do I setup my own home network?

configure ur router to auto mode or pppoe. connect the two systems to the routers ethernet port using two rj45 based straight cable
