ISP
Airtel XStream Fiber - 200 Mbps plan
idk what devices are needed, but this is how the network will function

main devices on the network (wired connections only)
1. old laptop that'll run as a media and print server
2. a tv in one room
3. a tv upstairs
4. a ps4
5. work laptop in upstairs room and one of the rooms

requirements
1. wireless devices must connect to best network automatically
1. example: i'm taking my phone upstairs, wifi stay connected, and still maintain a strong signal
2. if there will be multiple networks, wireless devices shouldn't have to manually switch to the strongest wifi network
2. communication between wired and wireless devices needs to be extremely fast (within the network) as the main media consumption tv will be connected via wifi, and needs to communicate with the media server effectively (fire tv stick) (ethernet adapter for fire tv stick only supports 100 mbps, wifi router is right next to the tv in question, will get faster speeds)
3. ps4 remote play with high speed anywhere throughout the house (wired or wireless)

current ISP: airtel xstream fiber 200mbps plan - using their provided Nokia ont

available:
1. an ethernet cable in each room, all terminated at the main router. wired cabling is not an issue
2. an 8 port TP-Link switch (TL-SG108E)
3. another spare nokia ont (again, airtel provided)

can you suggest the best and most cost effective method to satisfy my requirements with the available resources? if required, I am willing to spend upto 3k INR (can be extended slightly according to requirement).

PS: Sorry if this an extremely basic question, I just want my home network to be perfect :)

@altf4 What is your budget ?

mesh is not magic and setting the same ssid / password / authentication method can work but you also need to set the right values for fast roaming, otherwise clients will stick than seamlessly migrate. this'll work even when the APs are not on the same band

going with x20 or some other "mesh" products is one option. Another option is, going with hard wired APs that support fast roaming and band steering but this is a bit more elaborate, relatively more difficult technically and probably more expensive.

I don't think you need mesh routers or such things.
If you don't need fast roaming i.e. uninterrupted connection. Obviously, there is no need to spend an extra single penny.
Just hear me out and try once. If this doesn't work, you can obviously spend some money and move to Mesh or other high-end things.

First, If you maintain different names for your wifis, Your phone will automatically jump on the best network available. You will have to do this manually for some time when you come in the range of that router.

As you say, you have ethernet cables terminated in each room and have spare ONTs. Just connect those as an access point.
To achieve this, connect your ethernet connection to any LAN port of the ONT and make sure you disable the DHCP from that ONT.
You will start getting IPs from your main router/ONT and it will work without any issues. If you are not sure, how to achieve this, we have some posts here which can help. Or, watch YouTube videos on how to use an ONT as a bridge.
