how do i set up a BSNL modem ?

hi i have received a adsl modem ( siemens c 2110 ) from bsnl . how do i set it up ( means i have set up the wires but how do i set it up to use the user id and password and activate the connection ? ) the bsnl dept in calcutta is extremely un cooperative and i am at my wit's end ...the CD which came from bsnl is most unhelpful . it only has the drivers which i have put in and some extremely vague literature from siemens . please help .also 2 other questions ... can an adsl modem be used for dial up connection too ? and is it better to connect the modem via the RJ45 socket or USB ? i am reasonably computer savvy ( both hard and software ) .... so feel free to use technical language .....
 
thats just easy Go to lan icon .....then there will be IPV4 And IPV6( 6 only for vista)....got to ip 4 and go to properties.... 1--click on auto detect the ip address then just give it a minute thats it ...................................you just have configured the moden 2-- just type 19.168.1.1 in ip address column don't write any thing down system will takecare of it..click ok just give a minute....thats it ....................
