Well I've been searching on port forwarding and everything to increase a bit of speed, haven't found anything yet. In the meanwhile, I forgot to mention that the router they gave me is a no name chinese piece of shit! I wasn't getting full signal strength even when I was in the same room as the router, and I couldn't use it when I was on the ground floor (the router being on first floor). And I thought, why did I get the wifi if I can't even use it out of the bloody room! So since I had the one that airtel gave me already, I installed that one and now at least I can use it wherever I want.

Use public DNSs

How?

Hey thanks. :) I guess I am supposed to make those changes in Tcp/Ipv4? Do I use the values you have used or the ones you have listed under "Delhi" ?

Never mind. I used the open dns values you have there. Still getting 0.20mbps. :( Anyone knows anything about port forwarding? Thanks guys.

Arey but you are toh in Mumbai no? :( Wait I will try them.

Stopped working when I used the mumbai values, and working just like before on Delhi values. I have a feeling that the broadband gods have cursed me.

That is strange because those were the ones MTNL had given right from the time they started Triband services way back in 2005. And they work from Mumbai.

if you dont want unnecessary headaches then switch to opendns. go to OpenDNS | DNS-Based Web Security, make a account the site has a guide on how to enter the DNS addresses.

look in your router advanced settings section there you should find 'DNS'

I was using that too but dumped it when their Singapore servers were having some issues & writing to them was no help as I got, what I thought an arrogant answer to my query. :(
