Finally my city has been added to the launching soon list for xstream fiber. It shows a countdown of around 59 days. But still I saw no wiring or box by airtel around the city. When can I expect it to be done. Someone said it just takes 20-30 days to install fiber. The countdown is of no use. I am eagerly waiting for their ftth service. Any ideas?

In my area (Mumbai) they laid conduits in Dec 2014. But started laying FOC thru these conduits in Nov 2018 & I got my connection in Jan 2019. That's the speed at which they worked. Everything about them had been disappointing.

Airtel Xstream Fiber to be Launched in Several Cities Soon, Roll-out Facing Delay Due to Lockdown

it's cute how even news services cannot get the name of the service right.

i doubt it's a copy editing problem. plus i assume the news was created out of a press release issued by the company to syndicated networks.

Just some marketing GAS generated to keep themselves in the news. Just make promises when they can't deliver then mske more promises maybe add a few lame excuses as spice & the story goes on. Remember that joker (promising high speed broadband) who was active here & used the same ploy😏

I m eagerly waiting for the launch in my city. I m tired of local ISPs with bad routing and they are useless for online gaming. PINGs are much higher even jio is better as compared to them. When one try to complain they transfer the call to Delhi office. The person over there only cares about download speed.

In my area, there are Airtel unlimited plans available like 40mbps @ Rs799 and 100mbps @ Rs1099 included gst.
I want to opt Rs799 plan but I want atleast 60mbps speed.
Does this trick works to increase the speed? Suppose after using 1 or 2 months, if I request Airtel customer care to disconnect my connection & giving them reason that I am not satisfied with 40mbps speed as other ISPs like Jio Fiber are giving minimum 100mbps speed. So I need atleast 60mbps speed. Will this trick work? Few guys online was saying that Airtel broadband customer care is flexible and they do negotiate when customer try to permanently disconnect the connection.

@SG_curiosity No. This doesn’t work. If you’re on such a tight budget, 40 Mbps is fine. You don’t need 60 Mbps. If you really needed it, you would opt for the 100 Mbps plan. The difference in pricing is really not that much.

Airtel negotiations are to reduce pricing while reducing data quota a lot. That’s it.
