I would like to know if ACT fibernet connection is really secure. The cable that runs from the junction box to the user's computer is an ethernet cable which can be directly plugged into the LAN socket of the computer. Since all the other subscribers in that area are also connected through the same LAN and belong to the same network domain, can another subscriber or the ACT staff and technicians gain administrative access to my computer? Do I need to turn off "administrative sharing" in "computer management" of my windows 7 to be safe?

Thanks in advance.

It's a more of a WAN connection. Not a LAN connection. It's unlikely that other users can see your files.

You can turn off administrative sharing if it will make you feel better.
