How to get connected on LAN

i stay at thane (w)and using hathway 128 kbps unlimited plan. can any one guide me how to get connected on LAN and i want to share filesor what are the software to be used and what r the setting to be done .

Hathway does not & cannot provide LAN as it works on the technology of "cable modems".
Even i had thought about it and done a lot of research... but then : its of no use -->> cable is different from LAN.
If they want to they can start a dedicated DC++ hub ... without capping the download speed [speed upto 30Mbps] as well as making it unlimited.
But they'll never do that.

Best option is to have router where you get four ports to connect which you can expand by switch. Other if you have only two PC and extra ethernet port on one where modem is connected then you can used MS ICS and share the internet to other port...you may require cross cable to connect another PC
