How to set up a BSNL broadband connection using type 2 modem in windows XP

you can test it out before actually doing it.. disconnect all telephones in your house for some time.. then from the wall socket (in the room where you router is place) connect telephone cable directly to splitter.. then connect a cable from the Modem jack of the splitter to your router and then try using the internet(remember at this time try not to connect any telephones.. you can connect them in the telephone jack of the splitter if you want).. if the internet works now, then this solution would work!!!

even if they send a line repair man gets a line direct to the mode, only one of the phone will work and wont be able to use the rest of the phones
Option 1:
Accept the offer and get a direct connection from Telephone Exchange to the room where the computer is kept.( hereinafter called the "computer room "!)
Option 1 :
Step 1> In the computer room connect the ADSl splitter to BSNL port
BSNL Point Rj45==>>>adsl splitter : adslPort ===rj45===>>>Modem. check Internet OK.
Step 2 : In above add a two way telephone splitter (TSNo 1)to the PHONE PORT.
Step 3: connect a phone in computer room and check working.
Step 4 : Check whether any other telephone is working in "as is where is " condition in any other room .Do not disconnect.

Step 5 : If none is working BSNL has disconnected the connection for the internal wiring to different rooms.

Step 6 : back to step 3 . use a rj11 cable from the
telephone port and connect to another two way telephone splitter. ( TS NO 2 )
Step 7. Plug TS2 to the old phone out let in the nearest room ( say bed room ).
Step 8 : connect the phone in bedroom and check.
Step 9: Check other phones working ok.

Option 2 : Try this before Option 1.
Buy adsl splitters from electronic shop and use for each telephone , in existing set up. to avoid
degradation of Broadband signal. ( by the way how many phone you are using ?)

If you understand electrical wiring in your house,Telephone lines are parallel connections
Serial connections.
AC230V==>>Bulb1==>bulb2==.> to bulb 40 ( each 6V rating ) decorative serial lights. If one bulb fused , none will light !

I called an electrician, he will be coming tomorrow and he will draw the line direct to my room and i'll do the procedure as mentioned above. I don't understand the codes/names mentioned for the splitter/wires by essbebe. Anyhow, will see if it works. For the connectivity test you mentioned above, i tried disconnecting all phone lines and tried to connect to the net, but i wasn't sure about the exact step, i just connected the line to the modem and tried to access google, but it didn't work. But when i typed 192.168.1.1 is did open the login window but putting admin and the username and password didn't work.I tried the above in my windows vista lap.ThanksSpencer Jones

See POST NO 7 above. we are telling the same thing in different manner !
Rj11 is the cable you connect your telephone line.
ADSL splitter is different to Ordinary Telephone splitter.
How many fixed/cordlessBase phones you use in your house ?
SL2_141 ADSL MODEM (Type-B) MENU
Para two : (a) Try with XP only. and get connected.

Hello Everyone, I atlast got connected to BSNL without pulling a line and direct from my socket and the connection is established. All i am experiencing is a bit of rumble in the phone line. I think this can be fixed with the steps mentioned above. And about how this was fixed...I had connected the local cable guy's internet direct to the BSNL modem with the hope of making the connection wireless. To my surprise it worked. But i didn't knew that this has created my problem with the ISP and causing problems with other net connections. So these guys called me and asked if i am using any router and i said i am using the BSNL one. So they cam eover to my house and i asked them if i can get the wireless connection from BSNL and the wired connection from the local cable guy. This guy was an expert and set everything for me and now i can access BSNL wireless and the old internet by connecting to the wire. But the only problem now is that, i am logging in without entering any password, so i doubt if people might access my net and cause problems. So i would be thankful to you, if anyone can guide me the steps to making my connection secure (how can i assign a password for the connection?) ?Thanks & RegardsSpencer Jones

glad to hear that everything is alright now!!about the security part.. go to your modem's config 192.168.1.1 and change the default modem password from admin to something else.. that should do!!..also if possible DISABLE telnet access from WAN ( not all routers support this though)

1.You access BSNL BB in Wireless mode.
2.Also your cable BB by connecting directly the cable to your laptop.
3.Now if both or used , the faster connection ONLY will work. If BSNL fails Cable BB will work.
4. Probably he has connected
a)BSNL to USB port of laptop and
b)cable BB to ethernet port of laptop : or the other way round.
I had connected the local cable guy's internet direct to the BSNL modem with the hope of making the connection wireless. To my surprise it worked
Unable to accept this claim. ( if the modem was set earlier by BSNL staff ).
Para two ;
Are you using Reliance BB ?
Solved the telephone problem ?
