How to use your own onu on Airtel Xstream Broadband?

but enabling it on TP-Link Router, it will show your TP-Link router to backend guys. And there's good chance you can get blacklisted.
What are you trying to achieve? Just use Airtel's ONT and keep it under bridge.

BTW, In past, I have used some LB-Link ONU with Airtel and there was no such issue. They didnt call me. Its just they(local tech) could not see my optical power because TR-069 was disabled. Also, no matter which ONT/Router you use, 121 people will be able to see your IP, wan uptime etc.

@Hitori_Abhito7 @anmolbhard004 I know you guys have TR-069 disabled and that is why backend guys are not able to control your ONU and that is a problem for them. Just lie to them that your internet is working fine you just had done ONT reset in the past.
Well, I also have TR-069 disabled on ZyXEL ONT, and they never called me for this stuff.

SFP isnt any different, it works just like an ONU.

You dont need to worry about anything, just dont let local airtel tech know that you are using your ONU at the place of Airtel.

I wonder what is the point of doing so much 'jugaad'. Why not just abide by the rules and policies set by the ISP? Is it that difficult?

I agree that ISP provided ONT performance is sub par and customers should have the right to use their own router. Airtel should enable bridge mode by default on their ONTs to make things easy for themselves and customers.

I have noticed lately that this forum is bombarded with half baked information, cheap and prohibited workarounds as replies/solutions to genuine queries and questions. This becomes very confusing for folks who are here for legit queries and making purchase decision based on that. It's misleading honestly for the OP of that particular thread. Mods should take some action against this.
