just ask samuel on what he thinks about wp7. the kinds of headaches he is facing on wp7 are not really fixed in wp8. :)

The only big headache I faced was no support for interactive USSD. Other than that, it was all about getting used to a platform and UI. Once you do, its a best user experience. Social network integration is best I have seen. I do not care about n number of apps. For most of my needs, app was there although paid or function was built in. On few occasions, I missed the customization of android and few other things but I could do without it and on the other hand, satisfaction the consistent and smooth UI gave was unmatched.

that is the thing. i expect certain things to work like they do on my computer. i mail myself a lot of things that i want on my phone because i am too lazy to connect wire and transfer it through it. but apparently wp does not like that. **** the user experience or a unified social inbox if i have to use a freaking software to transfer songs to my phone. again my own opinion. i cannot get myself to justify getting a restricted experience in the name of innovation. :)

not really. he gave me a very simple example. you cannot download a song from the web and add it to your music playlist to listen. no third party app would fix that because it is a microsoft implemented limitation on the same lines as ios.

There are so many live tile customizing apps already in a marketplace. Agree that there are many limitations and more of so for thirtd party apps but I do not think there will be restriction for an app to display live tile with big clock+weather+some relevant info.

i would again be called an android fanboy for getting amused about the modifications being offered on live tiles. basic problems with windows phone remain with wp8. the same that kept me away from ios.

Agree. Its not like I was all happy about all these restrictions but still the platform has lot of potential. Its uniqueness, responsiveness, SN integration, consistency, resource management is second to none. Not on a single of occasion it hanged or lagged. I do not think anyone would ever require to reset a WP just because its slowing down, certain tasks are lagging, apps are not releasing memory etc. Its even better than iOS in this department.

haha. again buzzwords. does not have enough google services for someone like me. :) i recommended the lumia device to samuel because it was for his dad and it would have worked well for him. too bad he did not like it for some reason. samuel has the same problem as mine. we prefer how things work in android. he is considering selling that unit in case anyone here is interested.

@chromaniac .. except tht song transfer issue .. Is there anything else which is irritating in wp8?Doesn't it allow to save the files etc from email in some folder like we do in windows? Is the restriction just for music file? or all the files?

should get samuel here to answer your questions i guess. my experience with wp devices is limited to 10 minutes i spent at a Nokia store few days ago.

I sent a music file from my PC via email and accessed it on my phone.Phone gives me no option to save it locally to some directly or some folder, every time you need to access the file, you have to go the email and open that.I have not checked sending any other file as an attachment or something, if you want I can try and let you know. There are two options to play music, first one is Zune and the second is Nokia Music, no equalizer in either one of them.Beats should have it's own media player with advanced options though.Every Time, you want to transfer music to your phone, you have to use Zune.Phone doesn't lag at all, but I don't know if I have something interesting to do on it to put it under some pressure in the first place.Let me know if you want to know about something specific, I cared less about the device and its still laying in the box.
