They must have received a lot of flak. If custom ROMs could port Gingerbread on Desire, why not HTC. It was a commercial move from their end, but they should not have ignored their flagship model, the one that brought them back into contention
I sold off my HTC Desire quiet some time ago, a friend of mine with Nexus One got the update long before the jokers at HTC finally declared no Gingerbread for Desire. so i just sold it off & bought another mobile. Anyways the battery backup of this mobile also sucks big time when on 3g network so don't have to regret even if the update is released now, even Gingerbread would not have done so much for Desire's battery backup issues.
