i am going to apply for bsnl tomorrow as my cablewallah sucks bigtime.which is the best modem i should choose??they are giving type 1 modem free of cost in kolkata.is it worth taking or i should go for mt841 type4??

if you have a laptop or you plan on using one in near future opt for type IV mode.it just cost Rs.600 more than type I modem if you decide to purchase it from bsnl.rent is also just Rs.30 more i think per month.

If you want to delay spending additional Rs600. Get Type-1 now and Exchange it for Type-4 whenever you need in future (I did so because when I took broadband, I did not think that I would ever need Type-4.. but needed short while later). But if I were in your positions I would go for Type-4

Hello, Well, I would say Type IV modem wud be the best bet to go about as of now......It would cost you around Rs. 1800/- which is worth it if you wud use BSNL Broadband... I have a suggestion...make sure you get a BSNL Login ID & Password to check on your daily usage...else you wudn't want to end up with a bomb bill at the end of the month... --Vinay
