I am very happy with my Jio connection but I am facing 1 big problem.
I recharge 199 per month which provides me with 1.5GB of data per day.
Even if I surf the web the entire day I never run out of bandwidth.
The only problem is if I stream videos. If I watch a 1 hour 720p video on
Youtube I get a SMS notification on my registered mobile saying that I
have used 50% of my daily limit.

Lately I am very attracted towards OTT services like Netflix & Amazon Prime
but it will be impossible to stream OTT with my present connection.

I am just venting my frustration with my friends here

Presently my monthly expenditure is Rs 199 + 156(Cable TV) = 355

What in your opinion is the best solution in my case ?

Either u should opt of 2GB or 3GB per day plans ,otherwise u can buy an addon pack of 6 or 12gb. If u want to save extra money spending for these ,then u should enable data saving feature for u phone ,sync and all takes so much data so that must be turned of. Also try to stream in low quality like 360p or 480 p. If u want take otts like prime and Netflix it will need a lots of data .there is a data saving feature in the app itself u can turn it on..

Your math is wrong. Your monthly expenditure is 355 not 255 :D

Best solution is to either take a higher plan (more costly) or get a proper wired broadband connection from whatever is available at your location.

@philip
Thanks for the suggestions but as I said before I am able to watch content in HD using my digital cable connection. Frankly speaking once you start watching in HD, SD content doesnt have that appeal anymore. I guess as vishalrao suggested I will
have to switch to a wired broadband connection.

@vishalrao

Oops !!! Typing mistake. Sorry about that. Corrected.

That sms you get is for daily data limit. Not the monthly limit. So even you use data one day the speed would be next day.

@igloo
Yes, that's corrects but suppose I exhaust my daily limit the speed drops to 40kbps & I have to wait for 12:00 am which is very boring. Even surfing the web is nearly impossible on 40kbps. I guess this is the nature of 4G broadband services.

Get a data topup for those times. But remember you stop videos once you get 90% or 100% message.

I guess this is the nature of 4G broadband services.
4g and broadband are different, depending on your usage you should opt for higher daily data plans or for wired broadband connection.

Once you switch to wired it will be very difficult to go back to 4g :p

The fact is I had a wired cable (not adsl) broadband connection but I cancelled it coz
I was fed up with my local cable guy.

I am still not happy with my digital cable connection which is provided by the same guy.
Hence I am thinking of switching to OTT as I said in my first post.
