Direct-to-home (DTH) players are likely to hear good news on tax front. The Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry is considering telecom regulator TRAI’s recommendation to lower the license fee from 10% to 6% of the total gross revenues. . . . . .

Next favour to the DTH players from TRAI.

Respected telecom regulatory authority of India, you are doing miracles to the DTH players, but there is a segment called "customers" whom you are not even thinking about. In the DTH segment, there are lot of things which you can do "for the customers", but which you are ignoring, either being scared of the DTH biggies or due to the heavy weight of the bribe in your pocket. There are lot many which was planned for the DTH customers, like a-la-carta pricing of pay channels, interoperability of STBs, providing the FTA DD channels even if the customer do not continue in the service, ownership of the STBs and the dish to the customers, allowing foreign channels, mandatory channel sharing b/w players and so on. But have you attempted to implement a single thing? you were so eager to control the smaller cable operators with all you CAS logic and channel pricing, but why you are being a dump ass in front of these DTH players? And finally, whats your next move? tax subsidies for the DTH players?
