I want to use my own router instead of the crappy zyxel airtel router

Alright heres the problem:

I got an airtel connection almost 10 days ago and since then i've been trying to use my own TP-Link router instead of their ZyXEL router. I tried configuring it in Bridge mode on my own but its grayed out

I contacted airtel CC and they agreed to configure one of the ports to bridge but nothing else... What do i do after they configure one of the ports to bridge

After it is configured to bridge, they will share which interface they are using as bridge. Get an ethernet cable and connect it from that ZyXEL interface to the wan port of your TP-Link router.

Open the tp-link router configuration i.e., 192.168.0.1 > head to wan. select PPPoE.
Username is the credintial that has "_dsl" and add @airtelbroadband.in after that. eg., 023232899_dsl@airtelbroadband.in
Password is your account number, call airtel if you don't know. DNS is optional.
MTU to 1492 and you don't really need to configure anything else.

Done. you should see airtel working via bridge.
You'll get a Public IP on WAN of your router or if its CGNAT then likely a 100 series IP.

should you set VLAN to 100 or something? Also is the account number available on the airtel app?

Hey, are you using PMG5617-R20B with Firmware V100ACCU0b8 ?
The previous firmware V100ACCU0b5 made it super easy to configure bridge mode as I described in Airtel is now giving a new equipment for FTTH | Airtel Xstream Broadband

However after @JB701 posted this thread Zyxel PMG5617 Command Injection | Airtel Xstream Broadband it seems to have caught the attention of Airtel and they pushed a firmware update crippling all the options!

I have the same issue, but I think I found a workaround. But I cannot post it here due to the fear that this might get patched again!
This involves a bit of manual work and I want to test if this works on others setup running this firmware.

If you have the time and patience, please let me know via a DM so we can work on trying this.
PS: Ensure you are getting your internet working if you perform a factory reset of ZyXEL router for this to work

Lol I jus realized its not possible here. Anyway are you comfortable with Browser console from a chromium based browser?
We'll have to use that for this to work..
Also when you factory reset your router, do you get your internet connection back? Better to make sure we ca revert before trying this
