Hello,
I'm Subscriber of Spice(Idea) since 1998 in Karnataka.
I read the news about IMEI Validity issue in News Paper & DOT has advised Mobile operators to BLOCK the handsets which is NOT having VALID IMEI w.e.f. 1st Dec 2009.
I verified my handset's IMEI as per the instructions given in NEWS paper (and also at MSAI.IN |About IMEI ).
I sent SMS to 53232 alongwith my IMEI & received following reply from 53232:
Last 10 days I'm receiving SMS from IDEA saying that I got Invalid IMEI & contact customer care to avoid complete Service BLOCK from 30th Nov 2009.
I contacted IDEA Customer Care & I asked them that why I'm receiving INVALID IMEI Alert messages even though I got VALID IMEI for my handset.
Customer Care representative told me that "We sent IMEI Related msgs to all our subscribers & if u have confirmed VALID IMEI then you need not worry, just ignore those msgs".
But, from 30th Nov 2009@Night, IDEA has blocked my IMEI & completely BLOCKED all services. Now its showing INVALID SIM.
Then I called up IDEA Customer Care & asked about the same. customer care representative explained me that:
IMEI Block is an Centralized System which is controlled by DOT & UNBLOCKING is NOT in our hand, so please visit one of our IDEA Outlet for further assistance.
When I tried different GSM Sim cards in same handset which is blocked by IDEA, Results are amazing:
CellOne = Works Fine
AirTel = Works Fine
DoCoMo = Works Fine
AirCel = Works Fine
VodaFone = Works Fine
Reliance GSM = Works Fine
Only IDEA Sim Card will NOT work.
Now I understood their service slogan that:
An !dea can CHANGE our Life
I'm just waiting for number portability has come into action, so that I can move my number to some other operator & tell HATS OFF TO IDEA.
