Idea Cellular: Calls to 1800- Series Being Charged

Previously i was with Aircel, they also dint even charge me for calls to 1800-.

Yea, I am aware of that list. That's what I mentioned by 'escalations'. It was not marketed as a customer care number ever.

but I though 1800 nos are always suppose to be toll free..and for CC only...

1800 nos are toll free. However, they can be used for anything, not just CC.

so then if I use my mobile this time I am not getting charged ( airtel ) I dnt need to look fr landline then

just tried this 1800 no. of Tata Sky on my airtel did not get charged

Whats wrong in that. Maybe that free toll no. if from MTNL / BSNL & its free only for their customers & for others its a paid no.

I have an Idea cellular connection. When i call 1800-series they charge me 1p/sec and when i call their mnp helpline 1800-270-0000 It is free.
I don't get Exact meaning behind it. 1800-series is supposed to be Free and how come they are charging for it?
I am being charged for calling every 1800-xxx-xxxx Series number.
